Baby-faced British Actor Orlando Jonathan Blanchard Bloom was born on January 13, 1977 in Canterbury, England. His father was lawyer Harry Bloom, a South African Jewish and a legendary figure in antiapartheid circles in South Africa who died in 1981. Orlando has a two year older sister, Samantha. In 1993, Orlando moved to London to improve his career, doing bit parts in TV series. He was classically trained at Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Orlando's first movie role was Rentboy in "Wilde" - 1997. Shortly after his graduation in 1999 he was cast as the elf Legolas in the feature film trilogy The Lord of the Rings, his first major movie role.
Orlando Bloom released shortly after the The Fellowship of the Ring was Ridley Scott's Black Hawk Down. His next role was that of Joe Byrne in "Ned Kelly". Next came the Disney's blockbuster "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" in 2003.
