The Longest Yard (2005)
Summary: Pro quarterback Paul Crewe (Sandler) and former college champion and coach Nate Scarboro (Reynolds), who are doing time in the same prison. Asked to put together a team of inmates to take on the guards, Crewe enlists the help of Scarboro to coach the inmates to victory in a football game "fixed" to turn out quite another way.
Movie Review: In 1974, Reynolds and director Robert Aldrich stuck it to the system with R-rated relish. In the PG-13 redo, Sandler and director Peter Segal (50 First Dates) go broader and sillier, though the murder of a major character is still a shocker. What links the two films in fun and ferocity is the big game, a ripsnorter that is irresistibly entertaining.
Chris Rock and Adam Sandler were a great pair for this movie. Even though there were was a sad part it made it all the more delicious. Burt Reynolds was great in the original, but the actors were superb in this film as well. From the beginning to end it held you in place. You didn't have to groan with any of the jokes, which is always great. Adam Sandler shines in this movie with his smart mouth and reknowned football fame that his prison mates hate him for. Chris Rock is always a delight for any movie because of his wit and humor. From the gays to the giant man whom Chris rock says to, " Please don't eat me!" will make you smile and laugh.
