Eric Burdon Biography:
Eric Victor Burdon was born on May 11, 1941 in Walker-on-Tyne, Northumberland), he was the lead singer of The Animals and later of War.
Of the three bands (The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and The Animals) that were called the 'British Invasion' of American popular music in the Sixties, only one requires the prefix of the proper name of its lead singer in order to state its true identity. ERIC BURDON AND THE ANIMALS has been extinct for some time now, but Eric Burdon is alive and well in California and singing better than ever. Burdon and his hot new band of dynamic young players, called Eric's Burdon I Band, have just finished recording some great new contemporary material and are scheduled to begin a grand European tour in April, 1996.

Burdon began in earnest his long and illustrious career as one of the world's preeminent popular singers in England when he and the Animals recorded and released their signature song HOUSE OF THE RISING SUN, followed by DON'T LET ME BE MISUNDERSTOOD, WE GOTTA GET OUTTA THIS PLACE, and IT'S MY LIFE. After several years of rockin' and rollin' throughout the world, Burdon settled (if such a term can be used to describe anything about rock n' roll or Eric Burdon or The Animals) in the U.S. and released the Sixties anthem SAN FRANCISCAN NIGHTS, and other era defining songs such as MONTEREY, SKY PILOT, and WHITE HOUSES. When the band broke up Burdon formed several groups and eventually teamed up with Lee Oskar to form WAR and recorded two albums including ERIC BURDON DECLARES WAR which included the Eric Burdon super-hit SPILL THE WINE.

When that group disbanded, Burdon got back to his musical roots by getting together with the legendary Jimmy Witherspoon and recording GUILTY and other true blue blues. He and The Animals got together to record their reunion album BEFORE WE WERE SO RUDELY INTERRUPTED, after which Burdon ventured into new territory by appearing in several European films and eventually starred in and composed the soundtrack for the German film 'COMEBACK. Burdon reunited with The Animals once again for more world touring. He also recorded SIXTEEN TONS for the soundtrack to Tom Hanks' feature film JOE VERSUS THE VOLCANO.

In 1990 Burdon toured with Robbie Krieger (formerly with THE DOORS), did a cameo roil in Oliver Stones' picture THE DOORS, studied acting at The Actor's Studio in Los Angeles, did more professional acting by doing a cameo role in the feature film THE ELEVENTH VICTIM, and appeared as featured artist in television shows such as China Beach.

In 1991 Burdon collaborated with follow Englishman and keyboard player Brian Auger to form the ERIC BURDON/BRIAN AUGER BAND and continued to tour the world, primarily in Europe, performing for his many loyal fans. From this collaboration came the live, double "ACCESS ALL AREAS". In 1994 Burdon and The Animals were inducted into the ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME. Burdon's great voice can be heard on national television commercials, and he has appeared this year on several documentary specials on the history of rock n' roll including a series by Time/Life in the states and Granada TV and BBC TV in England. He was a featured artist on the CONCERT FOR THE ROCK N' ROLL HALL OF FAME in September and can be seen in the HBO Special presentation of that concert, where he performed some of his classic hits in a duet with Jon Bon Jovi, and he was honored to have been invited by the family of Jimi Hendrix to perform in the JIMI HENDRIX TRIBUTE CONCERT in Seattle.

And now Burdon has a brand new band and is performing some of the freshest and most moving now songs of his brilliant career. ERIC BURDON'S I BAND has toured Europe extensively, performed recently at the HOUSE OF BLUES in Los Angeles, Harrah's Tahoe and Reno, and many other forums in the U.S.
Eric Burdon Trivia / Timeline:
Member of the musical group The Animals.

Burdon's overbearing personality is usually blamed for the break-up of The Animals. He went on to sing for fusion and heavy rock bands after they disbanded in 1966. The original members of the Animals reformed in 1977 and 1983, but without critical or popular success. Though not a significant group in the history of rock music, their 1960s singles remain classics.

Famous for his deep, raw, agonized singing voice.

Quotations by Eric Burdon:
"You've got to create a dream. You've got to uphold the dream. If you can't, go back to the factory or go back to the desk."

"Eventually I would like to reach the stage where I don't have to write about love and kisses and all that stuff."

"I don't think Jimi committed suicide in the conventional way. He just decided to exit when he wanted to."
