The golden-locked dimpled beauty Kate Garry Hudson was born on April 19, 1979 in Los Angeles, California, USA. Her mother is famous American actress Goldie Hawn, father singer comedian Bill Hudson. She is 1/4 Italian. Kate was raised by her mother and Hawn's longtime companion, actor Kurt Russell, after her parents divorced.

Kate's family hoped that she would attend New York University after graduating from high school, but she opted to get her feet wet in the professional acting world first. She decided to embark on an acting career of her own, landing an agent and a guest spot on the TV drama Party of Five (1996). Upon her acceptance to New York University?s Tisch School of the Arts, Hudson convinced Hawn and Russell to let her defer a year in order to concentrate on finding her first film role.

Her breakthrough movie was the 2000 rock 'n roll memoir Almost Famous; she played Penny Lane, the groupie with a heart of gold.

Kate Hudson is married to Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson. In 2004, she gave birth to their son, Ryder Russell Robinson.
