CELEBRITIES:
Jessica Biel Profile: Childhood, Films, Modeling, Acting Career
Jessica Biel was born on March 7, 1982, in Ely, Minnesota, USA, raised in Boulder, CO. She spent most of her childhood in Boulder, Colorado, with her father John Biel and mother Kim Biel, and younger brother Justin.

Biel was first discovered at the 1994 IMTA Los Angeles Convention, which earned her a scholarship to Diane Hardin's Young Actors Space in Los Angeles. In 1996, Biel began her run as Mary Camden on the Aaron Spelling-produced "7th Heaven" (1996- ).

She impressed viewers with her realistic portrayal of teenager Mary Camden, the mostly level-headed eldest daughter of a progressive minister, on The WB's family drama. Under the watchful eye of her father, she was featured in several modeling covers including Sassy Magazine in '96, Teen and Moxie Girl in 1998, and the huge honor from People Magazine in '99 when they named her one of the worlds 50 most beautiful people. Jessica has the charisma and sex appeal needed to be a movie starlet or a pin-up girl. Her breakthrough came when she was cast in Aaron Spelling's WB production, "7th Heaven" (1996) as Mary Camden. Although she gained considerable attention for her work on the show, she became increasingly frustrated with her role, blaming her saintly image for the loss of a leading role in American Beauty (1999) to Thora Birch. Feeling her character in the series was limiting her film career, despite a role in the acclaimed drama Ulee's Gold (1997), Biel attempted to get out of her contract. When the producers refused, Biel turned to Gear Magazine where she posed nude; the controversial cover and photo spread resulted in her leaving the television series by mutual consent. Unfortunately, Biel's film career did not take off as quickly, only as she had hoped and she frequently appears as a guest on "7th Heaven" (1996).
