Jennifer Aniston Profile: Childhood, Family, Films, Acting Career
Jennifer Joanne Aniston was born on February 11 1969, in Sherman Oaks, California, and is the daughter of Cretan-Greek actor John Aniston (originally Yannis Anastasakis, later americanised to John Aniston) and his wife Nancy Dow. Aniston's godfather is actor Telly Savalas, John Aniston's best friend. Aniston spent much of her childhood in New York, where her father won a role in the soap opera Love of Life and later Search for Tomorrow. In 1985, the family moved to Los Angeles when John Aniston started on Days of Our Lives. Aniston's mother, from whom she is now estranged, is an actress of half Scottish, as well as English, and Italian descent; through her, Jennifer is a direct descendant of the royal House of Stuart of Scotland.
Aniston previously dated Adam Duritz and Tate Donovan in low-profile relationships. 2004 would be another momentous year for Aniston, though more painful than she might have predicted. Onscreen she cemented her position in cinema comedy with Along Came Polly where she played the free-spirited, sexy and salsa-dancing new girlfriend of supremely uptight risk assessor Ben Stiller. Packed with pratfalls and gastric jokes, it was understandably a big hit. Offscreen, though, all was not well. Throughout the year the tabloids were in a frenzy over the state of Aniston's marriage. Had Brad Pitt fallen for co-star Angelina Jolie during the filming of Mr And Mrs Smith? Had Aniston prioritized her career and refused to bear him children? The coverage was hysterical and endless, and was eventually proved to be at least partially accurate. Aniston and Pitt would split up in January, 2005, leading to divorce that October. Pitt would be spotted increasingly often with Jolie while the media would go wild over Aniston's relationships with actors Vincent Cassel, Geoff Stults and Vince Vaughn. More positively, the split would push Aniston into a reunion with her mother.
In November 2005, Aniston was named GQ Magazine's Woman of the Year.
On November 29 2005, Aniston and Vaughn were pulled over by police in Scottsdale, Arizona. Police smelled alcohol in the car and tested Vaughn's blood alcohol level. Since he was not above the legal limit, the couple were allowed to go. In December 2005, Aniston sued paparazzo Peter Brandt for taking topless photographs of her sunbathing in her backyard. She was photographed from over a mile away.

What do you like about having Ben for your leading man in a movie?
I can tell you one thing off the top of my head. You know when you are listening to jazz and they are just all over the place and it is unexpected? That is sort of like Ben. A riff, sure.
What about doing sex scenes?
It can be nerve-wracking. There is just no way around it. You know, if it is awkward, there is nothing sexy. But we had fun. We were really proud of ourselves at the end of that day, that we made it through, but I have only had one other and it was 30 seconds and it was over!

Nobody thinks of themselves as sexy, really. Some days you go, 'Hey, I'm not going too bad today.' But if you try and be sexy, you'll never be sexy.
I always say don't make plans, make options.
I almost resent the whole fashion thing. Good God. never wearing the same thing twice and all of those things. It's a pain in the ass.
I was told to avoid the business all together because of the rejection. People would say to me, 'Don't you want to have a normal job and a normal family?' I guess that would be good advice for some people, but I wanted to act.
