Detailed Biography of Jamie Foxx: Full Biography
Jamie Foxx (Eric Morlon Bishop) was born on December 13, 1967 in Terrell, Texas, USA. To divorce with her husband, his mother Loise, let Foxx be adopted by her parents, Mark and Esther Talley, when he was still seven months old. Wanted to be able to play piano, Foxx got his first piano lessons at the age three at his grandmother's insistence.

Jamie Foxx went to high school during which he played quarterback for his high school team and was good enough that he got press in Dallas newspapers. Went on to college he kept continuing to study music and attended Julliard to study classical piano, where got a music scholarship. After his graduation, Jamie spent his two years time from 1986 to 1988 studying at the United States International University which currently known as Alliant International University.

Acting Career:
Jamie started his career as a comedian. He changed his name from Eric to "Jamie Foxx" in order to get more opportunities to perform at comedy clubs.

Foxx became known for his appearances on comedic TV series such as In Living Color (during the third season) and Def Comedy Jam. When the show ended, Foxx was given his own show, The Jamie Foxx Show, in which he played an aspiring actor who came from Texas to work in his Aunt and Uncle's hotel. His film debut came in Toys (1992) with Robin Williams.

Foxx's first prominent dramatic role came in 1999 when Oliver Stone cast him as the flashy, bull-headed,star quarterback Willie Beaman in the football-based film Any Given Sunday .Jamie's love to music at last resulted in his first solo album "Peep This" released in 1994 before he in 1999 sang the theme song for his movie, “Any Given Sunday.” He then would star in the movies Bait and Held Up in Ali , and Breakin' All the Rules.

Music aside, Foxx who was so talented in telling jokes that his teacher at the second grade used him as a reward, had built his career up only by becoming a stand up comedian. He got his first onstage performance in 1989 when a girl friend of his challenged him to do so. And so Foxx went to the Comedy Club and took an 'androgynous' name because he learned that women got preference for mike time on open stage nights. His performance at the Comedy Club preceded his other performances as the ones he got in “Roc” (1999) and  Later on, Foxx was known for the role of Ray Charles he played in a 2004 movie entitled “Ray”. Foxx earned him an Academy Award for Best Actor with Ray. This made him only the third African-American male actor to win the award. Additionally, he was also known for his action in “Collateral” (2004), a thriller where he portrays as a taxi driver Max who becomes a hostage for a cold-blooded contract killer Vincent played by Tom Cruise. Playing in both movies, Foxx gloriously gained two Golden Globe Award nominations in acting categories, one for his lead role in “Ray” and another one for his supporting role in “Collateral.” To add, in the same year he was also nominated for another Golden Globe Award for his role as a death intimate and Nobel Piece Prize nominee, Stanley Williams, in TV movie "Redemption." Those three Golden Globe nominations, all at once announced on his 37th birthday, had indirectly become a birthday gift for Foxx, made him the first person to have been nominated for three acting awards at the Golden Globes in the same year.

Foxx also starred in the war film, Jarhead with Jake Gyllenhaal in 2005. Before starring in Jarhead, Foxx played in the relatively unsuccessful film Stealth. One of the presenters at the prestigious 63rd Annual Golden Globe Awards held on January 16, this charming star is likely to continue creating another success with appearances in a series of high-profiles film features namely “Miami Vice” (2006), “Dreamgirls” (2006), “Damage Control” (2007), “The Kingdom” (2007), plus “Blood on the Leaves” (2007).

Music Career:
On top of that, the Golden Globe nomination for the category of Best Actor Foxx gained for the musical film “Ray” has raised critics prediction that he could even gain an Academy Award for Best Actor, made him only the third African American male actor to do so. Amidst the success, early in 2005 Foxx stumbled on a problem when he's been sued by Mark Filthian for abusing him just to get back his stolen sex photos, which Filthian claimed had legally taken from a dumpster near his house. However, there hasn't any certain decision made concerning the lawsuit. Notwithstanding with the trial, Foxx has successfully won the Best-Actor Oscar at the 77th Annual Academy Awards for his title role in "Ray," in which he portrays an uncanny emulation of beloved singer Ray Charles. And to follow that success, Foxx has on December 20 the same year released his album “Unpredictable, ”which he's been working on for 11 years. For the album project he reportedly collaborated with fellow musicians, including 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Kanye West, Slash, and rocker Scott Stapp, former Creed.

Jamie Foxx landed his first US TV music special, “Jamie Foxx: Unpredictable”, slated to be aired on NBC by January 25, 2006, he finally encountered the highlight in his singing career as his second album, “Unpredictable”, soared to take the top spot on The Billboard 200, subsequently directing him to become the fourth artist ever to have become an Academy Award winner and to make a number-one album on the Billboard charts.
