Gwen Stefani Profile: Family, Childhood, Career
Gwen Stefani was born October 3, 1969, in Orange County, California; USA. She was one of four children born to Dennis and Patti Stefani. Her siblings are Eric Stefani, Jill and Todd. Growing up in Southern California with brothers Todd and Eric (where they were raised by parents Dennis and Patti) Gwen was highly influenced by the rising popularity of ska and punk that was making its presence felt in the So Cal area.
When Gwen graduated from high school she attented "Cal State Fullerton College".
Her band "No Doubt" was started by her brother Eric Stefani, and a friend of his John Spence in 1987. Gwen joined later on as lead singer. Even later, Tony, Adrian, and Tom joined the band. They released their first album "No Doubt" in 1992. Their second album "The Beacon Street Collection" was later released. Then in 1995 they released their most popular album, "Tragic Kingdom" which topped the charts all over Canada and the US.
The band's later albums included Return Of Saturn (2000) and Rock Steady (2001). In 2004 Stefani released her first solo album, Love, Angel, Music, Baby,, nominated for a Grammy award as Album of the Year and including the hit single "Hollaback Girl" (which was nominated for a Grammy as Record of the Year). That same year she began an acting career, playing actress Jean Harlow opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in the Oscar-nominated film The Aviator.
Stefani married Gavin Rossdale, guitarist for the band Bush, in 2002... Early in her career, she was known for wearing stick-on pottu dots, the jewel-like Hindi forehead decoration. According to People magazine, Stefani began wearing the dots "when she dated fellow band member Tony Kanal, whose parents are Indian."... Stefani launched her own clothing line, L.A.M.B., in 2003.

Harajuku Girls
The release of her solo album has also brought attention to Stefani's entourage of four Harajuku Girls. Named Love, Angel, Music, and Baby by Stefani, the Harajuku girls are named for the area around the Harajuku Station of Tokyo, Japan, known as a popular shopping destination and fashion center for teenagers. Following the style of their namesake area, Stefani's Harajuku girls are usually flamboyantly dressed (sometimes in a somewhat "Gothic Lolita" style). They have been featured in her music videos and press coverage and on the album cover for Love. Angel. Music. Baby., and have a song dedicated to them on the album.

What She Said?
“Writing songs is super intimate. It's a bit like getting naked.”
“I want to be a guy, but I want to wear a lot of makeup.”
"I think everyone has gifts and everyone has talents. If you are successful at it, it feels really good but it never really penetrates completely. There are moments where I think that we made an amazing record and I'm so proud of it, but I don't wake up and go, "Wow, I'm amazing."
“I don't expect to fit in right away but I do sense that the fashion world is rooting for me, too. I'm not being treated like a celebrity wannabe fashion designer. But even if I was, it doesn't really matter because I'm doing this for me ... but it does feel really good when you have a hit,”
“I'm really horrible with secrets. It's amazing we kept it quiet as long as we did, I suppose. People were really supportive .... The tabloid stuff is so ridiculous.”
