Cheri Blum Biography Nestled on the banks of the Sassafras River in Maryland, Cheri Blum’s studio occupies a 19th century tenant farmer’s house. Here Cheri surrounds herself with an ever-changing array of artifacts collected in antique shops, in flea markets or on walks along the beach. The overall effect is one of vintage elegance. The paintings of this talented young artist reflect her eclectic surroundings. She has perfected a method of painting on cracked linen that conjures up images of Italian frescoes, or the patterns in handmade quilts. “My goal is to take the fine art aspect of the Old Masters and combine it with a worn hand-crafted look that suits today’s styles. I love to find unusual painting surfaces and create something from nothing.”
