Estella Warren Profile: Childhood, Films, Modeling, Acting Career
Estella Warren was born on 23 December, 1978 in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. Her mother worked as an elementary-school principal and her father sold used cars, she is the youngest of three sisters, one of whom is named Julia. During her high school years, Estella had no friends but excelled in swimming and became a world-class synchronized swimmer. She took up synchronized swimming at the age of five, and when she was only 12 moved to Toronto to train with the Canadian national synchronized swimming team. She lived with teammates' families and trained six hours a day. Her dedication paid off. In 1995 she won the bronze medal at the Junior World Championships. The following year at the age of 17, she earned the title of senior national champion and was slated to go to the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. She received the nickname Tellie.
Estella Warren managed by her own father, Estella's stunning looks have been showcased in such magazines as Marie Claire, Elle, GQ, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, Vogue and Vanity Fair. She also posed for a string of advertisements, including Andrew Marc, Byblos, Manuel Canovas beachwear, Perry Ellis, Cacharel, De Beers, Samsung notebooks, Cartier, Volvo, and a Victoria's Secret catalogue. Moreover, she managed to replace French singer/actress Vanessa Paradis as the face of Chanel No. 5 perfume with a Red Riding Hood-inspired commercial directed by Luc Besson. On the runways, she has worked for several fashion designers, notably Andrew Groves, Sonia Rykiel, Kenzo and Yves Saint Laurent.
Estella Warren later packed for Los Angeles to try a hand in acting and landed on the fashion industry-set feature Perfume (2001). In the Sundance premiered film directed by Michael Rymer, Estella starred as Arrianne, alongside Jeff Goldblum and Omar Epps. She followed it up with the role of Sophia Simone, a woman who adds fuel to the rivalry between top car racers (Kip Pardue and Til Schweiger) in Renny Harlin's action flick Driven (2001, also starring Sylvester Stallone).
The portrayal of Amazonian warrior princess Daena in Tim Burton's 2001 remake of Planet of the Apes helped Estella catapult her name towards the spotlight. In the film, she shared the screen with actors Mark Wahlberg, Tim Roth and Helena Bonham Carter.
